LIVING WITH CANCER TODAY
FACT: More than one million people in the United States are diagnosed with cancer each year. Cancer is the general name for a group of more than 100 diseases. Although there are many different kinds of cancer, all cancers begin because abnormal cells grow out of control. Untreated cancers can cause serious illness and death. 23% of the deaths in the Unites States are related to cancer diseases.
FACT: Whether you have cancer or are close to someone who does, understanding what to expect, as well as in-depth information about specific types of cancer, their risk factors, early detection, diagnosis, and treatment options, can help you cope with this disease.
