With the monies raised we will be able to provide support services that include patient advocacy, emotional support through groups or individual, financial support and educational opportunities.
One-2-One Financial Support Services
For the newly diagnosed woman, teen or child with cancer, Hope Abounds provides patient advocacy through our One2One Support Program. Through this program, we work to provide and meet for the needs of each patient at their point of need. This is accomplished by utilizing community networking resources within the county of residence, as well as, resources that Hope Abounds can provide internally. By completing and submitting the Financial and Support Services Application the patient is on their way to finding support, compassion, and encouragement through this journey! Once the completed paperwork has been received in the Hope Abounds office, a Patient Advocate will contact the patient personally.
Woman in the Mirror Health & Wellness Workshop
This is a program specifically for the woman who has completed her cancer treatment and found it difficult to get past her treatment journey and to embrace a new beginning in her life. It can feel impossible for a patient to accept and take ownership of her cancer diagnosis and then to release that identity once the journey is complete. The “Woman in the Mirror” was developed to assist women moving forward from patient to survivor and embracing life, embracing the new normal. Hope Abounds works to help former patients once again live life to the fullest!

The Hope Chest
Hope is a powerful tool in the fight against a cancer diagnosis. Sometimes the smallest gesture makes a huge difference to someone. It can make a bleak day so much brighter. The “Hope Chest” is a way that you can provide many necessary items to improve the days of treatment for a newly diagnosed adult cancer patient or the parent of a child or teen patient. Pediatric patients are provided items from the hospital, so Hope Abounds decided to concentrate on the adults. There are a couple of ways that you can help on the Hope Chest.
The 90 Day Hope Challenge
A new program pilot “The 90 Day Hope Challenge” is scheduled to be launched January 2017. This is a sister program to the Woman in the Mirror and will assist the cancer patient to take back control of her body image! Over the 90 days, she will be provided with uplifting and educational programs and speakers that share about nutrition, fitness and weight loss. The effects of the cancer treatment touch every part of the body. It may not feel like the same body you had before treatment. This program will help take back control and empower the survivor to change the image she sees in the mirror and in her mind. Participation at any level of the program is up to the participant.
“Stepping Into Your Genes”
Hope Abounds is extremely excited about our program “Stepping Into Your Genes”. Our educational focus from 2016-2018 will be on what family genes mean to the health future of families. This program is an educational program that addresses hereditary cancer genetics in a family beginning at a high school and college level. Through this program the parents of youth and young adults at the respective age, are challenged to take a proactive role in researching the family history of 2-3 generations in search of cancer diagnoses within the family.
Focusing on You
This program is offered through the year as a high school initiative for senior projects and at a college level for sororities to make a difference on their campus for those who will follow in their footsteps…what a legacy and difference this program can make!
