There is no rust anywhere on the washer and we have city water. It is almost like a few of the clothes got in contact with bleach, but I know that they didn't. It seems to effect cotton the most, along with the colors blue, brown, and light green. It happens the most around the neckline and sleeves. Sometimes the clothes will have been washed fifty times before they are effected, and then sometimes it happens to brand new clothes. Is there any product I can use to prevent this? It happens with all different kinds of detergents, so it isn't one particular brand that does it.
It's actually sweat bleaching your clothes, that is why you are noticing it around the neckline and armpits. It could be makeup as well but most likely sweat is the culprit. That is why you are noticing it more with certain colors, because those colors bleach out to orange.
