Do you lose the bottom and top portions of a full screen DVD film if you watch a wide screen DVD film?
Do you lose the bottom and top portions of a full screen DVD film if you watch a wide screen DVD film?
I actually don't know what the difference of wide screen and full screen is. The only thing I notice in a wide screen is that it is full screen but with the top and bottom cut off (that sucks! who would want a widescreen version dvd?)
Or is widescreen actually full screen with extended view which means you see extra images to the left and right of a full screen?
Please help me! This is killing me!
You gain more of the picture by watching the widescreen version. Most movies are shot in widescreen. You may notice that a movie screen is more rectangular in shape and most TV's are more square. To make it fit your regular, more square shaped TV, the movie needs to be re-shaped to fit it on your TV. For you to see the movie the way you saw it in the theater, the way the director intended it to be seen, you need to have the black bars on the top and bottom of the movie. A lot of new TV's are made more rectangular now eliminating the need for the black bars. I hope this helps a little.
