Emergency lights on civilian vehicles?
I have a question. I need to know what the laws are as far as having flashing or steady lights on your vehicle. This includes the following (ALSO, THIS IS FOR CALIFORNIA).
-Strobe (white) lights
-Red Lights
-Blue Lights
-Amber Lights (orange)
If you know this information, if at all possible, provide me with the CVC section so I could see it for myself. Thanks.
Ok. and yeah, I'm a volunteer firefighter, and I was looking to put just amber (orange) lights and white strobe lights on. If either of you find the vehicle code section on it for California, let me know, thanks.
I looked this up, so I better get best answer...it was tough to find!!! haha
"You may not have on or in your vehicle:
· Red or blue emergency lights. These are for emergency and law enforcement vehicles only.
· A siren, bell or whistle.
· A very loud muffler or one that lets out smoke.
· Signs, posters or stickers on the windshield or windows (except those required by law).
· A television which the driver can see.
· More than two spotlights, cowl or fender lights, fog lights (in front), or other extra lights (in front).
· Headsets worn by driver while operating a vehicle."
