What's up with itchy shirts?
Like when I'm at a worship service at church, the lights are off, and the stage lights are on. (not directly on me, since i'm not on stage) It's like for a short time, my shirt gets really really itchy, feels like there are fire ants on my back. is it just me getting hot, or is it the laundry detergent?
If it's only during specific occasions, I'd think it's more situational than laundry related. However, if it occurs in other places, or random places, it may be laundry detergent. It can also happen with fabric softener sheets used in the drier. Sometimes people are very sensitive to the fragrance used in them. It's usually fragrance in laundry soaps as well that can cause problems. You can try a fragrance free soap, or try Dreft or Ivory Snow for babies. People with sensitive skin usually can handle those soaps.
You might also want to look at the specific shirt you're wearing when this happens. You may have a shirt with a fiber in it you're sensitive to.
It's usually trial and error with skin allergies or sensitivities. You want to try to eliminate as much as possible that could be causing it and then add back things one at a time to see if there's a reaction.
It also might be dry skin in the winter, and the combination of that plus laundry soap/shift might be causing the itching feeling. Try some lotion on your back if all else fails.
Good luck.
