Why is there always a lamp with a single bulb on stage?
It seem like every theater stage has a lamp with a single bulb and no lampshade. Does this have some symbolic significance or some story behind it within the realm of theater?
It costs serious money in electric costs and in bulbs to turn on the colored floodlights on a theater stage and so the single, naked bulb is put there to give a circle of light when there isn't a paying audience.
