Why can't I record from using my Alesis Multimix 8 USB mixer and a microphone?
I have recently purchased an Alesis Multimix 8 USB and a D5 vocal mic. I use a mac and it should be mac compatible. I plugged my mic into the first port, and fiddled with the levels and couldn't get any sound into the computer when I had plugged it into a usb port. It seems that no matter how I set the controls I never get any reception. The actual mixer itself doesn't even show any sound reception on the LED lights on the right side. Can anyone help me I would be really grateful?
I attached an amp and the mic and guitar sound fine out of it but when I put the usb into my computer i get really scratchy quality, and occasionally I hear my voice so I know its picking up the sound but why does it sound so terrible?
and by the way I am so sorry about the name, my email is supposed to be funkyraven and I have no memory of ever writing that stupid name
i have the same set up except for the D5 mic. some mics require phantom power from the mixer to work. the Alesis has a switch next to the power switch to supply the phantom power to the mic inputs. if that is not the problem, then check the wiring of the XLR plug from the mic, some UK products are reverse wired.
