Advice on golf set please?
hello, im fairly new to the game, ive been renting out clubs everytime i golf, trying to improve my game, now i feel i am about ready to buy my own set. i average around a 12 handicap..which is bad, but hey, the clubs i rent are horrible, so that can contribute a little.
anyway, what do you guys recommend?
i figured i wont really need drivers to much, seeming i play mostly par three and RARELY need to hit 200+ yards.
so with that said, here are my options
A full set of Dunlop clubs(includes drivers, etc)...around 180$
or
Adams Golf- GT 500 4-LW Irons Steel (includes irons 3-pw)around 150$
or
a Full Wilson Set( irons, drivers, full set)...around 200$
well so far ive broke it down to that...im limited to a 250$ spending limit...what do you guys think
IF ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE
thank you
Well actually I've got that full dunlop set. It's actually quite good. Don't use the driver though, you may as well have wood. I lvoed the 5-wood though, it was fabulous. I still use them tooday after about 3 years, but the heads are starting to come off, so I'm getting some newer ones. If where you are playing is mostly par threes, then your not a twelve handicapper. Go to a proper par 70 or so course and check it out. Not to be a downer but you'd be good if you layed 28 over. trust me, dunlops are fine and quite cheap.
only one problem, I played a guy in matchplay who had these and one of the heads came off after half a year. I play off around 20 but thats because I putt terribly. I get on greens in regulation and three putt or so. If you hit the ground alot, then they may not last as long, but if you don't, they are fine.
good luck!
