Should I get a new couch?
We just renovated our basement family room. We removed the panelling, painted the walls, installed expensive laminate flooring, new light fixtures, currently adding baseboard, window/door trim. The problem is that the couch that is supposed to go in that room has been taken over by my cat, she has been peeing on it. I washed the cushions in the bathtub with laundry detergent, bleach, and water, but I think it will take forever to dry, and I think it still smells like urine. I also sprayed it with Nature's Miracle and Febreeze. If the cushions ever dry, should I keep the couch? Or buy a new one? The couch is a sofabed, in great condition.
The cat is 4 yrs old, we got her 1.5 months ago from the SPCA. She was spayed a couple of days before we got her. She it litter trained, I'm not sure why she decided to pee on our couch.
I would contact the SPCA and see if they can check it for a urinary tract infection. It could be a medical problem. As for the couch, I would replace it and keep the cat out of your new family room. Good luck.
