Moving Head Stage

Is it normal for a fetus to tilt his/her head backwards?
Several days ago I had an ultrasound at 13 weeks of pregnancy. What surprised me, that the baby had his/her head tilted backwards most of the time. I have seen many u/s pictures where baby's chin is tucked in, but my baby seemed to like keeping the head tilted backwards at a weird angle most of the time. The ultrasound technician did not comment much; she said I should address all questions to my doctor (going in two days).
In your experience, is it normal for a fetus to move the head so much backwards? Have you seen your baby doing it on u/s? I always thought that at this stage babies are suppossed to keep their chin close to their chest...
I don't know if its 'normal', but it is in my case! During my second U/S, my son did some of everything. He flipped around, turned over repeatedly, kicked, punched, had his head back, etc.
When I first saw him on the monitor, he had his two hands up to the sides of his cheeks (like he was thinking.. lol) and suddenly blew a kiss! He puckered his lips and opened his mouth a bit.. it was soo adorable!
Then he threw his head back (wayy back) and kept it there for a few mintutes.. before practicing karate kicks on my bladder.. =/
I wouldn't be concerned at all, but if it makes you more comfortable -- you can always talk about it with your doctor on your next appointment. She could have a stunt in her muscle development and growth.. but I don't think that would be very easy to diagnose just by seeing her on an U/S.
Was she sleeping?? Her head would probably be in 'weird' positions if she were sleeping.. and at 13 weeks, honestly, she has PLENTY of room to move her head (and the rest of herself around) wherever she wanted or felt comfortable to move it to!
Wait until you're 25+ weeks, then space gets a bit cramped up in there.. to say the least. =)
