i have a black light but no way of using it. Just the fluorescent tube without the lamp i originally purchased it with. I heard online that you can power a light bulb by wiring the two contacts of the bulb directly to an outlet.
If possible, i want to make some sort of fixture for the lightbulb and use a modified extension cord to plug it in. So, can i do this with a black light?? Do i need to regulate the power or anything? If not, how do i wire the lightbulb?
You need a ballast and pin sockets. The ballast will have a wiring digram. The Ballast will convert your supply to the voltage to the tube needs. It will be just as cheap to buy a complete fixture as to buy the component parts.
You cannot connect a fluoresent bulb to a line cord directly.
