I am buying a sound system thats gonna need a lot of power to sustain everything. im running 2 amps, 4 speakers, 4 tweeters, and 2 subs and a hell of a lot of LED's. Should i buy one of those "High output alternators" or just a new regular one or a new battery? thank you!
LED's shouldn't be much of an issue. Their current draw is very low.
It all revolves around your amps. That type of set up could be done with ~600w or 2000w+.
Most any electrical system will cover 600w rms with no problem. In most cases you'll be fine up to 1000w rms or so. My last set up was 1500w rms with a 110A alternator and stock battery -- no problems.
You start getting closer to 2k and in most cases a high output alternator would be at least very helpful, if not a necessity.
Nice batteries are good, but not required. The alternator is the key.
