Laser Light Aid

What laser pointer should I get? (I am talking about higher powered)?
I want a laser pointer for the purpose(main) of being able to point out stars ,things outside, etc. I want a laser that i can actually see the beam (at lease in the dark) without aid (preferably in the light too). I also want it to cut stuff for fun(secondary and with saftey) what color should i get? please provide accurate info. what would be the best one for me... i am willing to spend a max of 120 dollars and want to buy from http://www.wickedlasers.com/ I want to know as much as i can. Please also provide some additional information about lasers and what all of the specifications mean if possible (not necessary) Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.
ok so i will get a 5 mW... will i be able to see a beam in low light situations (not completely dark). can 5mW lasers be used to engrave, cut paper, cut tape, etc.? what can i do with it other than use it to point out stars in the sky (can it even do that?)
Green. The legal 5mW is fine for this task.
Nothing is really going to be too visible during the day unless you have dust or something floating through the beam.
You can get higher power (through foreign places like wikidlasers), but they have risks.
Use a high power one at a star party and you might get hung if you accidentaly destroy any CCD pickups.
edit-
Wow, I just can't believe the "experts" here. Including those that suggest unwisely removing the RF filtering that will turn your laser into an invisible eye killer. Really stupid.
Anyway, you'll be able to see it a little in low light, but best at dark. It will be fine for astronomical purposes. Forget engraving with any green laser. Forget cutting paper with a green laser. You can cut black tape if you're close enough, have a steady hand, and a bit of time. You might even pop a dark colored balloon. The color (black tape or dark balloon) is important as dark colors "hold" the heat better.
