Studio lighting and flashes?
Disclaimer: I am using yahoo answers for a reason. I do not want to educate myself on this subject nor would I like to do the research on my own. I have tried both of these options and I get overwhelmed and stressed and would like it to be made simple to me by someone who knows what they are talking about.
That said...I'm setting up a makeshift photography studio in my apartment and I need to know exactly what kind of lighting/flashes I should buy. I need to know the names of everything (booms, stands, clips, etc) and which brands are recommended. I am looking for the cheapest equipment I can get for good quality photos.
I've been trying to do this for a few years and I just get overwhelmed thinking about it all. Please don't tell me to use a lamp, insult my apparent laziness or tell me to do some research.
Thank you
Well how elaborate are you going with this? 1 light, 2 lights, 3 lights setup? Are you planning to shoot people or what? Softbox or umbrellas? How much room do you have to work with? People can recommend things to you but you might not need them for your use.
Why don't you start by going with a package? Start small until you can determine what you need and buy them as the need arises. I would recommend something like this.

Maybe the 3rd one. And you'll need

The trigger and the receiver.
This should start with the basics of what you need to produce an image in a makeshift studio. Alienbees are made by the same company and Whitelighting. I have a studio in my sister's living room. I use WL. http://www.white-lightning.com/x1600.html I don't think that you will have room for a boom. Clamps you can get anywhere. Lowe's, Home Depot.
Good luck with it.
