i have a 1973 evinrude 50hp and it looses its power with throttle on full still reving high?
The motor only starts with warm lever up. When i put the engine into gear and take of, the motor revs high where it should be but just does not move fast. I have checked all the petrol lines what else could it be. I have also found alot of oil around the spark plugs. Please help!!
If you always have to raise the warm-up lever for a warm start, a carb rebuild has always resolved that for me. Probably leaking just a bit past the float valves when you shut it off, giving you an extra-rich mixture for warm starts.
A light coating of oil on the plugs after idling is normal.
