Order sequence for installing flood lights?
Using 12/2 romex wire 15amp circuit breaker I wanted to add a timer and dimmer and want to know the order/ sequence from the circuit breaker panel. Load is at 800watts. Timer has 1000wats max, 1/2 hp motor. dimmer is 600 watt max. I would be using halogen bulbs. Would I need to replace dimmer?
As noted by someone else, the correct sequence would be Panel to Timer to Dimmer to Lamps. You will need a different dimmer. The one you have is only rated for 600 watts. It will likely work for a while with the 800 watt load. But, it will probably fail prematurely.
When buying dimmers, be very careful. The listed maximum rating may assume that you are installing into a single-gang box. Some models have different ratings (lower) if installing into a double or multi-gang box.
Lutron's AY-10P should take care of things (1000 watt rating).
