Green Diffused Leds

Is it possible to replicate natural light with LEDs?
Using a combination of red green and blue LEDs in a mixed array, and suitably diffused, is it possible to produce white light? If so could one then play with the level of the RGB LEDs to replicate a similar light composition, or full spectrum lighting, of natural light?
Hmm, i was wondering about it for an artists light, as when working in colour they tend to use 'natural light' bulbs. If it looks the same (although having a different composition), to our eyes, would it essentially be impossible to distinguish for the purposes of painting or lighting anything for that matter?

Yes and no, you could get something that LOOKS like natural light out of them, but it wouldn't have the same spectrum.
The reason it would look the same is that we can only see in red, green and blue wavelengths, so using those colour LEDs we can approximate how natural light looks.
However, natural light has all of the other shades in between, so it wouldn't actually be the same.
