Cervical cancer treatment with least effect on fertility?
I have been diagnosed with stage I cervical cancer and my doctor is recommending three treatments of chemotherapy.
I am wondering if anyone knows the treatment for cervical cancer that has the LEAST chance of affecting future fertility. I'm only 21 years old, so as you can imagine I would almost rather leave it untreated than do something that will affect future chances of having children. I'm in the process of also getting a second opinion, but it sounds like the cancer itself is very treatable, it's just the post-effects that I'm concerned about.
I've been reading that certain chemo drugs have less effect on fertility, and I'm also wondering what laser/freezing/LEEP treatments have. I would really appreciate options from anyone with knowledge in this matter. Thank you!!
Laser and freezing the cancer wont affect your feritlity some chemo does but radiation really does mess you up. Also if there is a high risk of it you can also look into egg retrival and freezing them until a later date, After the chemo treatment if you havent had surgery you can still carry a baby, so you can think about that just on the chance you are infertil, you might be able to still carry a baby of your own.
