Please don't get Kimonos. Kimonos are the traditional Japanese costumes. Chinese girls wear cheongsams or qipao.
During Chinese New Year, the Chinese like to decorate their houses with alot of 'red' stuff because it is an auspicious colour. They also usually wear red clothing. We also hang signs which are on red background and either gold or black font which say 新年快乐(Happy New Year) or 恭喜发财 (As a blessing for fortune) and the word 福 (It must be upside down, because it will means 福到, meaning fortune is coming).
We don't actually use bamboos. We have special plum blossoms which we display in large vases. Also, try to make those fake chinese firecrackers, and also red packets to hang around the place.
Maybe for your confectionary like mini sweets and biscuits, you could get those revolving trays. They are usually round or 5 round containers connected to form a flower shape. And are usually red and black.
Basically your colour theme should be more of Gold and Red.
