DJ Lighting Setup...?
I have two lights I am considering buying for a DJ gig I have coming up. Everything so far has been taken care of except lighting. I was hoping someone might be able to fill me in on how exactly the lights would operate and be setup without the use of DMX controllers and the use of "Sound Activation".

In both cases, in the absence of a DMX controller, it looks like you have two choices:
1) A "sound activation" mode in which the rate and intensity of the lighting activity is influenced by the loudness and beat of the music. This can work pretty well, except that sometimes it's a bit much for a slow dance, and the lights also tend to respond to announcements.
2) A "preset" or "auto" mode where the light does its thing regardless of audio activity. The "Scorpion" allows you to set what this operation will be like using dipswitches.
Both units look pretty good, but you'll probably want a controller when budget permits. Good luck!
