My Nintendo Wii is always switched on even when off????
I replaced my wii tv connection for a better one now when I switch on my tv it always goes to the wii input channel even though the wii is off?? also the gamecube (3rd party) controller light stays on when i swich off the wii,is this normal??
The Wii is always on if you have Wii-Connect24 enabled. What that does is keeps the Wii always connected to the internet (receiving Wii-Mails, new Mii's, Mii parades, searching for available updates, etc.) but it works in the background. Real covert like. 
To disable Wii-Connect24 go into your Wii settings menu and poke around until you see it, it stands out.
As for the gamecube controller, since the Wii is always on, the controller and USB ports always have electricity flowing through them. So if you plug the controller in, it's lights will come on. Just like if you plug an iPod in, it will charge.
For the tv going straight to Wii input I can't help, that's an issue with the tv. Check your settings and make sure when you turn off the tv it is set to whatever input you want it on. (when you turn it off, don't have it on the Wii's input)
